Notes on the Fall Camporee

Here are some tips to help things go smoother at our upcoming camporee.
  1. Please limit the number of vehicles driving back into the camping area. The troop trailer may be left at the site but all vehicles must be parked in the parking lot.
  2. Please light as few fires as possible. Also, please take precautions to protect the ground from damage (e.g. tin foil under fire lays, removing grass from the fire ring and replacing it Sunday morning, etc.).
  3. Saturday lunch should be brought to the morning assembly. There is only a half hour between the two learning sessions. This is not enough time to run back to the site and grab something to eat.
  4. The property is divided into three fields. Activities will take place at various locations on the three fields. Boy Scouts and Webelos will camp near the back field. It has been suggested that it is probably best if the Boy Scouts share their sites and resources with the Webelos. It is up to the Boy Scout units to invite the Webelos units to join them if they wish.
  5. Webelos Woods activities will be held Saturday from the flag ceremony until 3:00 PM and will be completely independent of Scout activities. All remaining activities will be joint. Troops and packs may eat together or separately at their option.
  6. Farrell and Linda Smith are in charge of the Friday night cracker barrel. Please get with them to see what you need to bring.
  7. The Webelos Woods staff is in charge of the Saturday night cracker barrel. They may request items from all of us.
  8. The Webelos Woods staff is also in charge of the campfire. Webelos tend to be more enthusiastic about campfires but don’t let them show us up. Encourage your Scouts to come up with a good skit or two.
  9. Youth service opportunities include: check-in guides, merit badge session registration, greeters, building clean-up crew, and check-out team.
  10. Our parking should have no effect on early service at the church (8:30 Sunday morning). However, the parking lot gets pretty full for Sunday School (9:40). We will provide you with whatever assistance we can so that as many vehicles as possible can be gone by this time. Being gone by 9:40 is not mandatory, just appreciated. If you wish to attend church or Sunday School at Villa Rica First Baptist, the Pastor has extended his personal invitation to all Scouts and Scouters.. ***COME AS YOU ARE*** Regular service is at 10:50.
