Reason for writing this thesis:

This thesis is written to provide guidance for using the Internet as a resource for Scouting. The Internet is a fairly new technology that has many facets that remain mysterious to the average person. People who have used the Internet may only be familiar with a small portion of the information available to them. This thesis will seek to help familiarize people with the Internet and its uses.

Group that will benefit from reading this thesis:

This thesis is written for Scouters at all levels of the Scouting program, from leaders working directly with their unit to district leadership to professionals. Although written with Scouters in mind, Scouts may also benefit for the same reasons noted above.

Scope of this thesis:

This thesis covers the basics of making use of the Internet. It will familiarize the reader with the electronic information services available and how to access them. The thesis will provide examples of how to make use of the Internet within the program. It will also touch on some of the positive and negative aspects related to using the Internet for Scouting.
