Setting Up Links to MeritBadge.com

It's easy to set up links to valuable reference pages on MeritBadge.com. If you've never set up links on your web site before, here are some instructions to help you link up to some of the key areas of this site.

The Easy Way Out

There's so much here on MeritBadge.com that you may not want to try to set up a lot of individual links to different points. If that's the case, the easiest thing to do is to set up a link to the home page. From there, most folks should be able to get wherever they want to go.

For a simple text link, copy the text below into your document:

<P><A HREF="http://www.MeritBadge.com/index.htm">MeritBadge.com</A> -- A great resource for requirements and rank advancement assistance

And your link will look like this ---

MeritBadge.com -- A great resource for requirements and rank advancement assistance

If you'd like a graphic to go along with your link, use this text instead:

<P><A HREF="http://www.MeritBadge.com/index.htm">
<IMG SRC="http://www.MeritBadge.com/art/mbc02.gif" WIDTH="50" HEIGHT="57" ALT="MBC logo">
MeritBadge.com</A> -- A great resource for requirements and rank advancement assistance

And your link will look like this ---

MBC logo MeritBadge.com -- A great resource for requirements and rank advancement assistance

If you'd like a banner to go along with your link, use the following text:

<P><CENTER><A HREF="http://www.MeritBadge.com/index.htm">
<IMG SRC="http://www.MeritBadge.com/art/mbc10.gif" WIDTH="468" HEIGHT="60" ALT="MBC banner">
<BR>MeritBadge.com</A> -- A great resource for requirements and rank advancement assistance
</CENTER>

And your link will look like this ---

Merit Badge Requirements

Camping Merit Badge is your personal favorite and you want to share the requirements with the rest of the web. To do so simply insert the following text into your document:

<A HREF="http://www.MeritBadge.com/mb/001.htm">Camping Merit Badge Requirements</A>

And your link will look like this ---

Camping Merit Badge Requirements

In the middle of the text example you see the number 001. This three digit number corresponds with the BSA merit badge numbering system. If you want to set up a link to Swimming Merit Badge instead of Camping, it's the 14th merit badge. Just replace 001 with 014. You can also change the text Camping Merit Badge Requirements to read Swimming Merit Badge. For a list of all merit badge numbers, see BSA's Merit Badge Numbering System.

All Other Pages

If there's another MeritBadge.com page you would like to set a link up to, such as a rank requirement page or an award page, the process is similar but a little different. Do not use any spaces except in part 4.

  1. Insert the text following text: <A HREF="
  2. Then use your browser to go to the page you want to link to. Copy the address from the Location Bar at the top of your browser. Paste the address immediately following the information in 1. For our example, we'll use: http://www.MeritBadge.com/awd/tochi.htm
  3. Then add this text: ">
  4. Now identify the link. Our example page is information about Totin' Chip requirements.
  5. Finally, finish it off with this text: </A>

If you did everything right, your line of text should look something like:

<A HREF="http://www.MeritBadge.com/awd/tochi.htm">The Requirements To Earn Your Totin' Chip</A>

And your link will look like this ---
