This is the MBRC's research page. It was designed for my use to research links for your use. You may use it if you wish but if you're like me, you'll quickly find it very boring. I research over 100 links a day and I'm lucky if I find one new link in less than two or three hours work.

Let me explain how things work. First of all, the first link under every merit badge is always Yahoo. This is because they automatically provided extended links to Alta Vista, WebCrawler, HotBot, Lycos, Infoseek and Excite. Simply clicking on these links at the bottom of each Yahoo page provides you with more searching power without having to reenter the search information at each new site.

Second, I only use the LAST word in the name of the merit badge as well as the words merit badge in the search pattern. For instance, the search phrase for American Business is business merit badge. In this manner, a number of merit badges can be researched at the same time without overloading the search pattern. For example, the search phrase study merit badge covers four different merit badges: Bird Study, Insect Study, Mammal Study and Reptile Study.

Third, if there is another common misspelling or an older name of the merit badge is still in common use, that spelling is given and another Yahoo link is provided.

Also, in a few cases where the merit badges name is long and it is often referred to without the nomenclature merit badge added at the end, I provide a link using just the full name. The merit badge Citizenship In The Community is one where this was useful.

Finally, if all else fails, other general phrases and search engine submission forms are provided.
